Veurne has a permanent cyclocross course

They learn the tricks of the cyclocross section at the Sportpark with a sand strip, beams and a real washboard.

For several years now, young cyclists have been able to learn to cycle in a peloton under supervision in Veurne on a closed course. And now it goes the extra mile with a permanent 900 meter cyclocross course, where training is always possible. A sandbox, a washboard, bars… Everything is there to learn the technique of cross country in complete safety. Parents can have their children trained here with peace of mind. The cyclocross course is completely enclosed and does not cross any streets.

The Technical Service of Veurne took care of the construction of the track, in collaboration with external partners. The service is also responsible for maintenance. Its construction cost 7,000 euros. Pascal Sticker, alderman of Sport: “With this achievement, cyclo-cross is now also added to the range of sports to be practiced in our sports park. We hope that this will also sow the seeds for developing this popular branch of sport in Veurne as well.”
