Young Ajax has played a draw on a visit to Helmond Sport. It became 1-1 thanks to a goal from Christian Rasmussen. Michel Kreek was the boss of the young Ajax players on the bench, as John Heitinga has moved on to the first.
The first chance was for Young Ajax. Olivier Aertssen played Jaydon Banel and he forced Mike Havekotte to make a great save. The young Ajax players continued to press and got small opportunities. Kristian Hlynsson shot a free kick via Havekotte onto the post. Just before half-time it was Banel, who curled the ball just wide. Eros Maddy then had the chance to 1-0, but Charlie Setford stopped.
Rasmussen took the lead after an hour of play. He shot a free kick beautifully into the goal: 0-1. Helmond Sport did not leave it at that and became dangerous through Peter van Ooijen. The midfielder hit the ball wrong, so the chance went high. Van Ooijen was not much later the creator of the 1-1. He tapped a cross behind Setford. After this, both teams had chances to win, but none came.
Due to the draw, Jong Ajax is shared fourteenth with Jong PSV. They have played one game less. PEC Zwolle is the next opponent on February 6.
