The peak incidence of the strain of coronavirus “omicron” will pass this week, declared Head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) Kirill Dmitriev. His words are given in the Telegram channel of the Sputnik V vaccine.

“According to RDIF, Russia will pass the peak of the incidence of “omicron” this week. By the end of February, we expect a significant decrease in new cases,” Dmitriev wrote.

On February 5, Deputy Director for Clinical and Analytical Work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, Professor Natalya Pshenichnaya suggested that the peak incidence of the omicron strain could occur in mid-February. The professor added that after the peak, a sharp decrease in the incidence may begin, as in other countries.

The peak of omicron infection in mid-February was also predicted by Viktor Zakharov, professor and head of the Center for Intelligent Logistics at St Petersburg University, who is one of the developers of a new mathematical model for calculating the spread of coronavirus. According to his calculations, the peak in the number of new cases of the disease will come on February 22-24.
