Licorice from Kouvola has reaped world fame again.

Kouvola’s Licorice has gained recognition again, when the British magazine LUXLife chose the company as the best licorice manufacturer for the third time in a row, the company says in its press release.

Kouvola Licorice is happy about the recognition, as the company is set to increase exports significantly in the future. The licorice manufacturer will open a second factory in Kouvola at the beginning of 2023.

– In addition to greater production capacity, the new factory building also enables other new functions for our domestic customers. A factory store and a lunch restaurant have already been opened in connection with the factory. In addition, premises are rented from the building for other operators as well as meeting and event facilities for use by companies, says the CEO of Kouvolan Lakrits. Timo Nisula in the bulletin.

Already at the moment, 20–25 percent of Kouvola’s Licorice products are exported, for example to Germany, Italy, Canada and England.

In the competition of LUXLife magazine, the winners are chosen by an impartial internal panel. The panel includes members from the fields of business, economics, politics and media, for example.

A loose candy survey conducted by Cloetta last fall revealed that almost every bag of loose candy purchased contains fruit sweets. Most of the bags also contain salmia crackers and chocolate. According to the research, young people prefer tart candies in their bags, while older people replace them with licorice.
