Southampton FC will be strengthened for the next two and a half years with Croatian World Cup bronze medalist Mislav Orsic. The Saints officially announced the signing of the 30-year-old winger from GNK Dinamo Zagreb on Friday evening after the transfer had been pending in the past few days.
For Orsic, whose market value is 10 million euros, the Premier League club will pay according to “The Athletic“ a basic transfer fee of around 6.8 million euros. This could increase with bonuses. To date, the 27-time international and goalscorer in the game for third place at the World Cup in Qatar against Morocco (2-1) was one of the five most valuable players in the Croatian SuperSport HNL.

Orsic has followed a rather atypical career path and is now moving to one of the top 5 European leagues for the first time. From Inter Zapresic he went to Spezia Calcio in the Italian Serie B in 2013 and via HNK Rijeka in his Croatian homeland and the Slovenian NK Celje in 2015 to the Jeonnam Dragons in South Korea. He then played in East Asia for around three and a half years, switched to Changchun Yatai in China and back to Ulsan Hyundai in the K League 1. At Dinamo, Orsic quickly became a top performer from 2018, scoring 91 goals and providing 40 assists in 214 games. He won the league four times and the cup once.
