Despite the shortage of materials and raw materials in many companies, numerous medium-sized companies are doing good business. This is the result of a business survey by the Federal Association of Medium-Sized Businesses (BVMW), which was published on Thursday. 41 percent of the owner-managed companies rated the current business situation as “good”, 10 percent even as “very good”. “Bad” or “very bad” was only 15 percent.
Almost half of those surveyed stated that their sales had increased in 2022 compared to the previous year. For the coming year, 42 percent expect the same business situation, one in three is more pessimistic about the future.
The companies have done their part, saved energy and implemented new supply chains, according to Markus Jerger, Chairman of the BVMW. “Now politicians must also get involved. That means consistent tax relief for small and medium-sized businesses and no new bureaucratic burdens.”
69 percent of those surveyed stated that they expected a macroeconomic review in Germany in the next 12 months. Only three percent believe in a boom. In order to lower energy prices, one in three respondents would like the state to speed up the expansion of renewable energies. At the same time, 71 percent state that the increased energy prices do not pose an existential threat to their company, 12 percent made no statement. (dpa)
