There is a new message for you. Check your account for erratic activity. Your account has been hijacked, log in to prevent theft.

Fraudulent messages sent in the name of banks are already an unfortunately commonplace phenomenon.

– Unfortunately, fishing and many other ways of cheating have become extremely common in the last year, and both banks, the police and telecom operators are trying to do everything they can to prevent these scams, Danske Bank’s Director of Communications Anu Ilvonen tells.

There is no specific type of person who falls for scams. According to Ilvonen, the victims are from different age groups and educational backgrounds.

– Scam messages are circulating almost all the time. Sometimes we see spikes when there are particularly active fishing campaigns going on.

According to Ilvonen, customers should also remain vigilant.

– Phishing attempts take place by e-mail, text message, and phone, and it can sometimes be difficult to identify scams. Today, scammers also use search engine advertising and social media channels such as Facebook.

Although fraudsters become more inventive every year, some still trust that the mere use of the bank’s name in the message will make the alarmed recipient click on a questionable-looking link.

Ilvonen reminds that the bank never asks for customer IDs by email, text message or phone, or sends a link to login to the online bank.

REMEMBER THESE THINGS

  • Do not log in to the online bank through the search results, but enter the address of the online bank in the address field of the browser yourself.
  • Another safe option is mobile banking, where you can log in with your chosen identifier.
  • In the authentication service, only accept logins that you have made yourself.
  • Never accept card or online payments that you have not made yourself.
  • Never give your bank credentials to anyone or enter their information based on a request received by text message, phone call or email.
  • Do not post pictures of bank cards or IDs.
