Only one goal after HSV farewell
When 1. FC Nürnberg announced the transfer of Manuel Wintzheimer on a free transfer in the summer, sporting director Dieter Hecking spoke of hope for the “next step” after the attacker had regularly played the role of joker at Hamburger SV. However, the 23-year-old also fell short of expectations at the “Club” and could move on after just six months.
A report of “Picture” according to Wintzheimer would like to leave the club again this winter. The reason for this is the playing times in the first half of the season: neither under Robert Klauß nor under his successor Markus Weinzierl did the two-footed offensive player, who can play in the center of the attack and on the flanks, get beyond the role of the reserve player. Only on the 3rd match day at Jahn Regensburg (0:0) and in the second round of the cup at Waldhof Mannheim (1:0) did he start. He scored his only goal in 13 games in July.
A way out of the sporting impasse should now be a change in winter. According to the report, there is interest from several second division competitors and sports director Olaf Rebbe also confirmed that there is no shortage of potential buyers: “It is true that there are clubs who have asked us about Manuel. There’s nothing more to say about it at the moment, especially since we generally don’t comment on rumors of transfers.” After the mixed first half of the season, November saw the third market value minus in a row, from 800,000 euros to 700,000 euros. With Danny Blum (31), a potential storm replacement was recently traded as a newcomer in Nuremberg.
