The Minister of the Interior, Peter’s Wado, launched harsh criticism of the ruling of the Supreme Court that granted 2.95 percent of the mass of co-participating funds of the Nation to the Buenos aires city. “It is a ruling contrary to a solution,” shot Pedro, who also classified the ruling as “arbitrary, electoral and anti-federal,” in an interview with the journalist Reynaldo Sietecase in Radio With You.

“Seeing such injustice, where the City that has the highest quality of life, the smallest in territory, against the needs of the rest of Argentina, makes it clear that it is a political ruling and that it goes against the National Constitution , which says that the resources have to tend to resolve the imbalances in Argentina,” the official explained.

The precautionary measure obliges the National State to return that money, which, however, does not satisfy the total claim of the City, which is 3.50 percent. According to the Court, the decision will not affect the income of the rest of the provinces, but de Pedro claimed to be surprised by the resolution, which he assured is against the Constitution and that it is promoted by political lobbies. “They were saying that it could be that the Court ruled in favor of the City because the national media anticipated Larreta’s lobby; That is why it gave the impression that the Court could resolve the precautionary measure after 2 years”.

Following the Court’s decision, the President Alberto Fernandez initially decided not to abide by it, a decision that generated controversy and even the denunciation of the Buenos Aires Attorney General, Gabriel Astarloa for “disobedience”. Later, the president backtracked, alleging that “judicial decisions are mandatory” even when he “considers them disvaluable and unfair.” De Pedro gave his view of the conflict, alleging that the national government and related governors continue “discussing the arbitrariness of this precautionary measure.”

“The governors come with the same position, they were presented in the file, the Court never allowed the provinces to discuss. When you want to hide the argument, it is because they are cheating. They finance the CABA campaign with the needs of the provinces,” de Pedro concluded.

In 2016, during the government of Mauricio Macrithe participation of CABA in the co-participating mass had been raised by means of a decree from 1.40 to 3.75 percent, as part of the financing for the transfer of the police to the Buenos Aires area.

But in 2020, a protest by Buenos Aires police officers put the province’s security in jeopardy. To solve the economic conflict, the Nation decided to deduct the funds from the City and redirect them to the Province. At that time, the Buenos Aires head of government Horacio Rodriguez Larreta sued the Nation before the Court, which ended up ruling in favor of Buenos Aires with last week’s ruling. However, it seems that the conflict will continue for a while longer.
