FC Schalke 04 | Vindheim is out for a long time

Andreas Vindheim has been FC Schalke’s top signing this winter so far. The player on loan from Sparta Prague convinced with offensive drive, speed play and precise crosses. The newcomer was injured in the home game against Jahn Regensburg. Now S04 has announced how long Vindheim will be out.

The winger suffered a left calf injury in the early stages and signaled early on that he would have to be substituted. After eight minutes he left the field against Regensburg with a score of 0:0 (final score 2:1).

On Tuesday, the Royal Blues announced that Vindheim will have to rest for several weeks to recover from the calf injury.

Vindheim will not only be missing against Fortuna Düsseldorf next Sunday, but also in the upcoming home game on February 18 against SC Paderborn.

The 26-year-old only moved to Gelsenkirchen from the Czech Republic in the summer and immediately fought for a regular place on the right flank under head coach Dimitrios Grammozis.

Ranftl waves starting eleven comeback at FC Schalke 04

In his first competitive game for the close team at Erzgebirge Aue (5-0), the Scandinavian made sure that Schalke’s attacking game was more balanced than in the weeks before, when S04 repeatedly played left-heavy over the strong Thomas Ouwejan.

Vindheim is on loan to the Bundesliga relegated team until the summer and could then be committed.

In the coming weeks he will probably be replaced again by Reinhold Ranftl, who played a lot of games as a right-back in the back five in the first half of the season. Ranftl has played in 14 games of the Gelsenkirchen season so far and was also substituted on last Saturday after the Vindheim injury in the first half.
