Surprise at Alexandra Palace: World Champion Peter Wright failed early on at the Darts World Cup in London.
The two-time Scottish champions lost their third round match against Belgium’s Kim Huybrechts 4-1 after a disappointing performance on Tuesday.
The 52-year-old Wright didn’t get into the game from the start and even switched darts during the game.
Huybrechts consistently exploited the weaknesses of the second in the world rankings, especially in doubles, and deservedly made it into the round of 16. There the 37-year-old meets his compatriot Dimitri Van den Bergh.
Wright defeated Englishman Michael Smith 7-5 last January and celebrated his second title after 2020.
