Pink Floyd took to social media on Christmas Eve to say thank you for raising half a million pounds for Ukraine through the single “Hey Hey Rise Up” and music video. David Gilmour and Nick Mason got together again this year for a good cause. With the new track, Pink Floyd delivered new music for the first time since “The Endless River” (2014).

Pink Floyd and fans raise over £500,000 for Ukraine
Joining Gilmour and Mason were longtime Floyd bassist Guy Pratt and keyboardist Sawhney, and Andriy Khlyvnyuk of Ukrainian band Boombox sang. The number, which was initially released digitally in April and reached number 1 in 27 countries, was later released physically on vinyl and CD. All proceeds went to the following Ukrainian organizations: “Hospitallers”, “Kharpp”. “SOS Vostok”, “Livyj Bereh” and “Kyiv Volunteer”. “Pink Floyd would like to thank everyone who supported ‘Hey Hey Rise Up,'” the band said on Instagram. “The single, recorded on March 30th featuring Andriy Khlyvnyuk of Ukrainian band Boombox, has so far raised over £450,000 to help alleviate the suffering of the Ukrainian people. David Gilmour and Nick Mason have topped that sum to £500,000 (…). Let’s see what else we can do this winter.
