The Telekom Baskets Bonn remain the measure of all things in the basketball league. On Boxing Day, the leaders of the table celebrated their tenth win in their eleventh league game against the Niners Chemnitz with a score of 80:73 (39:29).
The outstanding TJ Shorts almost single-handedly led the hosts to success with 38 points. Marko Filipovity (17) scored the most points for Chemnitz.
The initial phase was balanced, after which the home side pulled away from 19:16 (11th minute) to 27:16 within two minutes. The leader mercilessly punished the mistakes made by Chemnitz, who had lost twelve of their total of 17 turnovers before the break.
In the second half, the Saxons fought their way back into the game, were even ahead by 50:49 in the 28th minute and could hope for success up to 61:60 (33rd). But with an 11:0 run to 72:60 (36 th ) Bonn decided the game in their favor.
Göttingen succeeds away win
Göttingen’s only away win on Boxing Day was 78:64 in Braunschweig. Würzburg beat Crailsheim 87:78 and Frankfurt didn’t let anything go wrong with 101:83 against Rostock. In addition, Bayreuth defeated Bamberg 92:86 in the Oberfrankenderby.
