World Cup slalom: Dürr too timid in Holdener’s victory

Status: 11.12.2022 3:40 p.m

Wendy Holdener has won the second slalom in a row. When the Swiss won, Lena Dürr once again missed out on a podium place in the second race and finished eighth, despite a promising position. Behind Holdener, Mikaela Shiffrin secured second place in front of Petra Vlhova.

Wendy Holdener has shown her strong form again and triumphed again after the slalom in Killington two weeks ago. After two runs on the 2006 Olympic slope, she was 0.47 seconds ahead of second-placed American Mikaela Shiffrin. Petra Vlhova of Slovakia was leading after the first heat but had to settle for third place after mistakes in the lower section.

The Swede Hanna Aronsson Elfmann conjured up an outstanding second run. Especially in the final section of the course, she found by far the best line, was able to make up twelve places and, in fourth place, just missed the podium.

Dürr too timid in the second round

In the first race, Lena Dürr put herself in a good starting position with start number one and was 0.49 seconds behind Vlhova before the finale in fourth place. At that point, the podium was just under 16 hundredths away. In the second run, however, Dürr was too cautious, did not attack fully and thus lost her lead over her rivals. With only the 13th fastest time, she slipped back to eighth place.

Lena Dürr dropped from fourth to eighth in the second run.

For Dürr it doesn’t seem to want to work out with a place on the podium this winter. In Levi she was fourth at the start of the season, in Killington she dropped from sixth to 28th place after a driving error.

Filser also scores points

Andrea Filser provided a positive surprise. One day after being eliminated in the giant slalom, the 29-year-old from SV Wildsteig drove into the final with start number 33. There she was able to make up three positions and improved from 18th to 15th place.

Marlene Schmotz was 37th and missed the second round by almost half a second. Jessica Hilzinger did not start in the slalom after her fall the day before, in which she suffered a few bruises.
