Loan with option to buy
Holstein Kiel lets center forward Hólmbert Aron Fridjónsson go, at least temporarily. The 28-year-old Icelander joins Lillestrøm SK in Norway on a loan until December 31, 2022. “We can’t currently guarantee Hólmbert Fridjónsson the playing time he needs to get back up to speed quickly. So we’re hoping that ‘Berti’ will be able to get a lot of match practice at Lilleström SK in the coming year,” said Uwe Stöver, sporting director of KSV.
Fridjónsson switched from Brescia Calcio to Kiel last summer for €150,000, but only made five appearances for the north German second division club over a total of 141 minutes. The offensive man remained without a goal and template. Lillestrøm SK said they also had an option to buy Fridjónsson.
Pichler, Bartels & Co.: The most valuable additions to Holstein Kiel
“Lillestrøm is a big and well-known club in Iceland, so I know the club well. Many Icelandic players were there and did well. When I heard that LSK wanted me, it happened quickly and I’m very happy to be here,” said the attacker.
