After two exceptional years, the Linna party, organized for the first time, gathered a huge number of spectators to the screens.
Yle announced on Wednesday that an average of 2.06 million people watched the Linna jullat TV broadcast this year, and the broadcast reached 2.96 million Finns.
The most watched time was between 20:00 and 20:10, when more than 2.4 million people followed the broadcast. During this period, the presidential couple arrived to shake hands with, among others, author Sofi Oksanen, Huuhkajie captain Tim Sparv with his spouse Jitka Novackova, MEP Mauri Pekkarinen, Vesa-Matti Loirin close friend Peter Lerche and a singer Maarit Hurmerinta.
– The return of invited guests to the party after the corona years clearly raised the public’s interest and united Finns in a wonderful way. On the other hand, the events of the world this year have certainly influenced the way in which Finns celebrated Independence Day. This can also be seen in the fact that all content related to the holiday was used diligently on Yle’s various platforms, the responsible producer of the Linna jupital program Ville Mättö said in Yle’s press release.
In total, Yle’s Independence Day TV broadcasts reached 3.1 million people. In addition to Linna’s celebrations, the Towards Linna’s celebrations and Linna’s continuation programs are also included in the overall reach. In 2021, due to the corona virus, the Linnan juhlat program, made in an exceptional way, was watched by an average of 1.35 million viewers, and the program as a whole reached 1.5 million Finns.
