Kläbo completely disappointed
On the demanding Olympic course in Zhangjiakou, Hans Christer Holund missed the podium as the best Norwegian in fourth place. In the Pyeongchang skiathlon in 2018, three Norwegians were still at the top. Co-favorite Johannes Hösflot Kläbo (+9:06.0) was completely disappointing. The three-time Olympic champion from Pyeongchang only finished 40th.
“I walked past without a word. I think the track is just too hard for him“said Lucas Bögl (Gaißach, +4:02.7), who, unlike Kläbo, showed a strong performance and finished twelfth.
Friedrich Moch (Isny, +4:06.6) was right behind him. Florian Notz (Römerstein, +4:50.6) rounded off the strong overall result of the German team as 19th.
Schlickenrieder more than satisfied
“Good team success“, called it team boss Peter Schlickenrieder. “When all three starters finish in the top 20, then you can be more than satisfied.”
“Didn’t feel good”: Dobler decided not to start
Jonas Dobler decided not to compete in the skiathlon at short notice. As the German Ski Association (DSV) announced a quarter of an hour before the start of the race, the 30-year-old from SC Traunstein did not feel good when warming up “Precautionary measure in view of the challenging conditions” then the decision was made not to participate. Dobler recently dropped out of the Tour de Ski due to minor heart problems.
