Ajax Women has suffered a blow against direct competitor FC Twente. The team from Amsterdam had the necessary opportunities to take the lead, but saw FC Twente strike. In Enschede, the team from Amsterdam therefore lost 3-1.

A striking header from Caitlin Dijkstra meant the 2-0. Still, the Amsterdammers did not give up. Leuchter put the connecting goal on the scoreboard in the 68th minute: 2-1. At the moment that Ajax started pushing for the final offensive, Elena Dhont closed the game: 3-1.
Ajax Women is stuck on 24 points from nine matches due to the defeat. FC Twente is therefore in the lead, because the Tukkers have a better goal difference. This Friday (kick-off at 7.30 pm) Ajax Women will play at home against PEC Zwolle.
