“Rheingold” could get a series version, announced rapper Xatar and actor Emilio Sakraya on Wednesday (November 23). Depending on whether the film reaches the 1 million viewer mark this weekend, a series from the biopic film is to be created. The film follows the life of Xatar and has been in cinemas since October 27th.
In an Instagram video, Xatar first thanks for the success of the film and the single “Mama was the man in the house”, which made it to number 10 on the singles chart. “I didn’t expect that in my life anymore,” he says, explaining that despite several albums reaching number 1, the singles always looked meager in terms of chart success. For Xatar it is clear that the film “is by far the biggest success of my life”. [sobald wie möglich] with the production of the Rheingold series. We are currently at 830-840,000 viewers. That means there are still 160-170,000 spectators missing. That’s not little friends. We did that on the first weekend. […] We can do this! Everyone go to the cinema. Those who are up for it go several times and let everyone know!”
A series could shed more light on the past of Xatar’s mother, who fought as a freedom fighter in her hometown of Sanandaj/Sanandaj. Protests against the Iranian government are also currently taking place there, which arose from the assassination of Mahsa Amini by police officers. Xatar had already drawn attention to the situation in Iran via Instagram in October.
Emilio Sakraya shared one another Instagram post, which Xatar has already posted on his profile announcing the series – with the same condition, of course. The film’s director, Fatih Akin, captioned Xatar’s announcement, “We hop ALLEZZZZ.” With these words, the rapper also describes the “Rheingold” series. The Mama Was the Man in the House soundtrack was last released by WDR radio orchestra played.
