BVB transfer plans? Hans-Joachim Watzke explains the current status

Borussia Dortmund is currently on a trip to Asia. However, there is already intensive discussion behind the scenes as to whether and how BVB should be active in the winter transfer market from January. Managing Director Hans-Joachim Watzke is now providing information on the current status of the considerations.

The sixth-placed player in the Bundesliga could improve again, especially in the center forward position.

With Youssoufa Moukoko, Anthony Modeste and Sébastien Haller, who suffers from testicular cancer, Dortmund have three nines in their ranks.

To date, however, Sommer-Transfer Haller has not played a single competitive game for BVB, while Modeste and Moukoko were not able to fully convince or did not always fit perfectly into the requirement profile of the Dortmund game.

In conversation with “sky“BVB boss Watzke explained that no decision had yet been made internally as to whether the striker position should be replenished: “We are still in analysis mode, and the transfer phase is far from over approach opened.”

The Sauerlander explained that he saw the absolute necessity of a potentially expensive winter transfer “in principle not”.

Nevertheless, the BVB boss is still keeping possible winter activities open: “We just have to see what happens in the next few weeks. A lot can happen in football, but we actually have enough offensive players because Jamie Bynoe-Gittens is coming back, Marco Reus comes back and then we have our chances.”

Since Erling Haaland left for Manchester City, the performance of the Dortmund offensive series had collapsed.

While the Westphalians still scored 36 goals after 15 matchdays last season, they are currently only 25. Youssoufa Moukoko is the best BVB scorer in the current season with six goals this season in the Bundesliga.
