It was with great emotion that Franck Ribéry announced the end of his playing career in October. The 39-year-old would have loved to continue standing on the pitch, but persistent knee problems shattered those dreams. A return to his long-time club FC Bayern is now in the air.
When he left Munich in 2019, Ribéry announced that he wanted to return to the German record champions at some point – in whatever capacity.
Now the “sports picture“that there are actually plans at FC Bayern that envisage a return of the club legend to Munich. According to information from the specialist magazine, the long-time winger should act as a club ambassador for Bayern in the future.
Claudio Pizarro and Stefan Effenberg, among others, are currently working in a comparable function for the German industry leader.
As a club or brand ambassador, Ribéry would primarily have representative tasks. He is currently still working in the coaching team at US Salernitana in the Italian Serie A, for which he was still active on the field in August.
Ribéry was German champion nine times with FC Bayern
How long Ribéry will be part of the coaching team in Salerno, i.e. when a return to Germany to his heart club Bayern would be possible, is currently not certain.
According to the media report, however, it is clear that both FC Bayern and Franck Ribéry are striving for cooperation.
By the way, moving to Munich again would not be a problem for the club icon, as the ex-national player never sold his villa in Grünwald.
Franck Ribéry played over 270 Bundesliga games for FC Bayern between 2007 and 2019 and celebrated nine German championships and one Champions League title with the club.
