Latvian Minister of Justice Janis Bordans proposed to postpone Moscow office of Deutsche Welle in the Latvian capital Riga. According to him, the city has a well-developed infrastructure, so after moving to Riga, the channel will again be able to cover “topical news from Russia, Belarus and the region.” Bordans promised that in the near future he would send a letter with a corresponding proposal to the management of the TV channel.
Earlier, broadcasting of the Russian TV channel RT DE was stopped in Germany. In response, Russia closed the office of the German TV channel Deutsche Welle in Moscow. Satellite and other broadcasting of Deutsche Welle in the country was stopped, the channel’s employees were deprived of accreditation.
Despite the situation with Deutsche Welle and RT DE, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz decided not to cancel his visit to Moscow scheduled for February 15th.
