VfB Stuttgart can fall back on all players in the Bundesliga home game against Hertha BSC.
The recently injured Enzo Millot and Tanguy Coulibaly as well as Dan-Axel Zagadou and Hiroki Ito, who have been ill in the meantime, were able to train again and are therefore probably also options for the duel with the direct table neighbor on Tuesday (8:30 p.m. / Sky), like interim coach Michael Wimmer confirmed a day before the game. “But we have to see how the players cope with the unity,” he said.
Due to the late kick-off time, the Swabians postponed the final training session on Monday to the early evening in order to sharpen their focus. In the 3-1 draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach, VfB once again conceded an early goal.
“We talked intensively about this topic,” said Wimmer. “On the one hand, these are content-related issues. But it’s also about how each individual player can ignite their own energy.”
The Stuttgart team lost none of the last three home games against the club from the capital. Even under interim coach Wimmer, whose future will be decided during the World Cup break, there have been three home wins in three attempts for the 16th in the table. For the 42-year-old, Hertha is “a totally interesting team that plays intensive football and is extremely good at winning the ball themselves”.
