Another qualifier. This time you can’t participate yourself, but watching is fun. A sheep herding competition is taking place this weekend on the site of Landscape Management Het Witterveld at 56 Witterweg in Assen. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, shepherds try to move flocks of sheep with their dogs as well as possible. About a hundred handlers participate. The best twelve qualify for the Dutch team and can participate in the 2023 World Cup in Ireland.

An anniversary for the singers of the Asser Mannenkoor. The choir is 100 years old and that will be celebrated on Saturday evening with a concert in De Nieuwe Kolk in Assen. With a renewed and here and there refreshed repertoire, the singing men show that they are eternally young. Special guests include youth circus Bombari, the dancers of the Danskwartier, the youth choir of Koorschool Drenthe and many others. The performance starts at 8 p.m.
Half younger, but a big anniversary. The Beiler Harmonie Orkest exists fifty years and will not let this pass unnoticed on Saturday evening from 8 p.m. with a concert in the hall center “Het Valkenhof” in Beilen. The musicians receive support from music association Erica from Zuidlaren, soprano singer Esther de Vos and pianist Julia Zaytseva-Koning. Not an anniversary, but a special performance Saturday evening at 8 p.m. in the Grote Kerk in Emmen. The Hoogeveens Christelijk Mannenkoor brings the moving music story with the cooperation of soloists and instrumentalists song of freedom. A story about 175 years of emigration and homesickness, war and liberation, freedom and lack of freedom and melancholy and reunion. It is written and narrated by writer Marga Kool. Tickets at the door cost 17.50 euros.
Do you like (strong) stories? Storytelling group Village full of Stories from Eelde/Paterswolde will come to Podium Zuidhaege in Assen on Sunday afternoon. There is also music by Wilma Meijer on accordion and Marian Toussaint on flute. The afternoon starts at 2.30 pm and entrance is free. A voluntary contribution is welcome.
