Korean boy band BTS holds the record for most hits at No. 1 on the Billboard chart this decade with a total of six songs. On Oct. 31, Billboard tweeted that the Koreans are ahead of Drake, who has had five No. 1 tracks so far. Behind them are Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande with four songs each, followed by Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj with three No. 1 rankings each.

BTS hit their first of the six #1 songs in 2020 with the remix of “Savage Love,” an original track by Jason Derulo and Jawsh 685. This was followed by the songs “Dynamite” with three weeks at #1 and “Life Goes On.” a week. The remaining three songs ended up at the top of the charts in 2021. “Butter” held the spot for ten weeks and “Permission To Dance” for one week. Also, her song “My Universe” with Coldplay stayed at the top for a week.
BTS member Jin recently worked with Coldplay again for his single “The Astronaut,” which was released on October 28. A few days earlier it was announced that the members of the Korean boy band had to do their compulsory military service. Depending on the troops, this would last for a period of 18 to 21 months.
In the 2010s, it was Rihanna who held the record for a total of nine singles at number one. Katy Perry followed with eight songs and Bruno Mars with a total of seven. It’s not unlikely that BTS will break Rihanna’s record given that we and they have over seven years to go this decade.
