After freaking out at the ATP Challenger tournament in Orléans, France, tennis bully Corentin Moutet continues to face strong headwinds. The French association has now even thrown the 23-year-old out.
As reported by “L’Équipe”, the national tennis association FFT has officially decided not to continue to have Moutet as a member. “Corentin Moutet’s behavior on the court does not represent the values that FFT wants to convey,” the newspaper quoted the association as saying.
As a result, the multiple Grand Slam participant loses the financial support of the organization. In addition, he is no longer allowed to rely on the trainers and the training center of the association.
He still has the option of continuing to work with his current coach Laurent Raymond. But then he has to pay for the coach out of his own pocket.
Moutet was criticized after his inglorious game against Bulgarian Adrian Andreev at the end of September. During the round of 16 of the Open d’Orléans, the two players almost got into a fight on the court.
Almost brawl causes tennis scandal
After Moutet’s narrow three-set defeat, the handshake between the two athletes was already violent. Then even an attempt at a headbutt could be guessed. After that, both players pushed each other, which had to be stopped by the chair umpire. The two brawlers finally left the square to whistles from the audience.
After the incident, Moutet took to social media and threatened his new rival should they meet again. “I tried to find him for ten minutes. In the end he hid behind six security guards on the other side,” explained Moutet: “I’m waiting impatiently for you, we can talk quietly.”
The ATP subsequently fined both players 10,000 euros each. Moutet was fined another €5,000 for his online threat.
At the ATP tournament in Adelaide, Moutet was also disqualified earlier this year after insulting a referee.
