Salah Abdeslam got married last summer in the prison of Fleury-Mérogis (in France). This is reported by the French radio station ‘RTL France’. It was not a civil marriage, but a religious marriage. It was done by telephone in the cell.
Abdeslam’s partner has been identified by the intelligence services. According to ‘RTL France’ it is a woman who was chosen by the father of the terrorist. Salah Abdeslam did not know her. His new wife is therefore not the woman with whom he had a relationship before the attacks in Paris, it is said.
‘RTL France’ reports that the French authorities would have known for some time that Abdeslam was planning to get married. They eavesdrop on all his phone calls.
Since his arrest on March 18, 2016, Abdeslam has received numerous letters, mainly from young radicalized women. ‘RTL France’ reports that two of them wanted to enter into a religious marriage with the terrorist, but they dropped out when the information was revealed by the media.
Contacted by RTL, neither the French nor the Belgian lawyers of Salah Abdeslam wanted to respond to this news.
The terrorist has already been convicted for his role in the attacks of 13 November 2015 in the French capital and for the shooting in Forest of 15 March 2016. In mid-July, he was transferred to Belgium for the trial of the attacks of 22 March 2016 in Zaventem and Brussels.
