The Rolling Stones have announced that they will release their new album in summer 2023. This will be the first work in more than 16 years since A Bigger Bang (2005) to consist entirely of original tracks. However, the band has not yet revealed who recorded and produced the album.

Jamaica and “quite a lot of bass” – that’s what the new LP could sound like

So far, the musicians have only spoken cryptically about the sound of the album. When asked how many tracks were created to work on the new production, Keith Richards replied: “More than I can count – it’s been a very productive week.”

On October 27th, the guitarist also tweeted a photo of himself recording with the caption “New sounds on the horizon”:

In an interview with The Sun, Richards said he’ll be playing “quite a lot of bass” on the new Stones songs, and that he and bandmate Jagger have a “really good sound to start with.” “Jamaica is good for the sound,” he added.

Ron Wood also explained the current status of the LP: “We are currently recording the new album and then going to Los Angeles to continue to implement everything there in a few weeks and then to finish it.”

First record after the death of Charlie Watts

Stones drummer Charlie Watts passed away last year at the age of 80. Guitarist Ronnie Wood told The Sun that Watts will still be featured on some songs. Current touring drummer Steve Jordan also contributed his drumming to the new record.
