An urgent move should prevent entrepreneurial incubator Growing Emmen from closing its doors. According to owner Dènis Assen, the energy costs for the 1600 square meter building on Parallelweg can no longer be afforded.

Fifty entrepreneurs rent an office at Growing Emmen. The building also functions as a meeting place for 250 affiliated entrepreneurs.

In January, the company will move to the Bukakkers, opposite housing corporation Lefier. The building on Parallelweg is making way for housing. “Our current building dates from the 1960s and is poorly insulated. We notice this in the energy bill, which is four times higher than in previous years. So we have to move with steam and boiling water, otherwise we will write big red numbers and it will be over. story. We already had moving plans for next summer, but it really had to be earlier,” Assen explains.

The newer building on the Bukakkers is better insulated and Growing Emmen can also expand.

It is the second time that the entrepreneurial company has to pack the moving boxes. “We spent two years at the Baander and then two years in our current building. We rent again at the Bukakkers for a minimum of two years with an option to extend.”
