Tieltse Belorama files for bankruptcy
The company was founded in 1919 and was an important Belgian company for more than a hundred years. The window manufacturer, which mainly produces windows and doors in PVC and aluminum, was mainly active in the coastal region and together with Vandenbroucke from Wevelgem and Belisol in Limburg, it had a significant share in the Flemish window and door production.
170 employees
Last year Belorama had a turnover of 50 million, albeit without making much profit. Today about 170 employees work for the manufacturer. Their future is still uncertain.
High costs not passed on
The company’s lawyer attributes the cause of the bankruptcy mainly to the two crises we are going through. The corona crisis and the energy crisis, especially the latter, are currently ravaging many companies. Belorama did not pass on the high costs charged by suppliers to the customer. As a result, the company barely made a profit. The three companies of Belorama therefore jointly incurred 15 million euros in debt last year.
The activity in the company has been suspended since Tuesday, but the management is trying to maintain the continuity of production as much as possible. Bankruptcy will be declared next week.
