Manchester City have temporarily taken the lead in the Premier League. The reigning champions won 1-0 (0-0) at Leicester City on Saturday afternoon. Former Wolfsburg player Kevin de Bruyne scored the winning goal for the guests from a direct free kick in the 49th minute.
Coach Pep Guardiola had to do without striker Erling Haaland for the first time in the league. The 22-year-old was hit on the foot in the Champions League game at his former club Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday. Haaland is the top scorer with 17 goals in eleven appearances and has a clear lead over pursuer Harry Kane (10). Man City are now top of the table with 29 points but could be overtaken again by Arsenal (27) on Sunday. The north Londoners host newly promoted Nottingham Forest, who bring up the rear.
