Captain Dominique Bruinenberg has won the first point for the women of Telstar tonight. Opponent Excelsior Rotterdam took the lead twice, but the White Lionesses had a quick answer in both cases. In Krimpen aan den IJssel it became 2-2.
It was a difficult opening phase for both teams. Few opportunities were created. After half an hour Excelsior had a chance to take the lead. However, the post was hit. The rebound was then a prey for goalkeeper Kelly Steen as a result of which both parties went into halftime with a 0-0 score.
In the second half, the spectators were presented with a completely different game. Telstar only needed three minutes to score. Felice Hermans scored with the head from a free kick by Dominique Bruinenberg. The women could not enjoy the lead for long. Just under twelve minutes after the opening goal, Katelyn Hendriks scored the equalizer (1-1) on behalf of Excelsior.

Doom scenario
Ten minutes later, the doomsday scenario seemed to be unfolding. Nienke Wierda worked the ball behind her own goalkeeper, so that another scoreless evening seemed to be coming. In the end, captain Dominique Bruinenberg brought Telstar alongside again. It was still a bit of a pinch after a red card for Chelly Drost just before time. Despite the number, Telstar took a point.
The White Lionesses, however, remain in last place. VV Alkmaar has played one game less, but a better goal difference. Telstar will play against FC Twente, the leader, next Friday.
