Michael Jackson’s eldest son Prince has praised his father in an interview. He was “the greatest,” he said on British TV show Good Morning Britain. Prince said he has “so much love” for his father, both as people and on a professional level.
“It spurs me on to try to be better,” Prince Jackson said of the legacy of his father, who died in 2009. He spoke to Good Morning Britain on the 40th anniversary of the album Thriller (1982). “But I also like to take a moment to sit back and say, ‘My dad really was the greatest.’ He is the greatest. And that’s worth celebrating.”
As a child, Prince Jackson apparently found the fuss surrounding the pop icon normal. “I was born into it — I was born in the middle of the HIStory tour in ’97 — and whenever we traveled around, he was always surrounded by people, and it just felt normal to me,” he said. “Even now I’m still in the process of understanding the full weight of his legacy – as I get older, as I learn more about his story. His influence is so much deeper than I can fully comprehend.”
Prince, whose real name is Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., is the singer’s eldest child with ex-wife Debbie Rowe. In addition to his sister Paris, he also has a half-brother (Prince Michael Jackson II, called Bigi, formerly Blanket) who comes from an unknown surrogate mother.
