On the Middenweg in Heerhugowaard, a large fire rages at a storage shed for caravans. It is the second major fire in North Holland: a fire is currently also raging in Den Helder.
Just after 9 p.m., the fire broke out on Middenweg, near De Noord. The fire brigade tries to extinguish the blaze. It is not known how the fire started or if there are any casualties. The entire Middenweg is closed, the Security Region will let you know if requested.
There are four sheds and a wind turbine on the site. One of those sheds is on fire, the other three and the wind turbine are kept wet as a precaution. The fire brigade is not yet under control and is afraid that the fire will spread.
Different unit due to crowds
Because in Den Helder there is also a large fire rages, a coordination team from the Kennemerland Safety Region has been sent to the caravan shed. The fire brigade advises local residents to close windows and doors and asks people not to come to the fire.
