The shopping street will be under construction for years due to reinforcements, but entrepreneurs are not giving up: ‘Appingedam is going crazy’

Scaffolding, hammering and sawing are the order of the day in the Dijkstraat, the shopping street of Appingedam. Due to the earthquakes, all but one of the seventy buildings in the historic part of the street will be reinforced. Quite a task, if only because it is a protected cityscape and there are several monumental buildings. Builders are therefore bound by many rules.
