Linda de Mol already had a bad day yesterday, but also got RTL Boulevard over her in the evening. The show section opened big with her apparent demise as a television star.
It is really incredibly painful how much Linda de Mol was punished by the television viewer on Sunday evening. Her drama series Five Live collapsed to a horrific 329 thousand viewers, not enough for a place in the top 25 ratings.
silent morning
Viewing figures expert Tina, who has been the channel boss of SBS 6 for years, was prominent in the opening item of RTL Boulevard yesterday. That item was all about the apparent demise of Linda’s TV career. “The drama series Five Live by Linda de Mol has officially fallen into a viewing figure ravine,” said presenter Daphne Bunskoek.
Tina then: “Linda woke up very annoying of course. Normally when something scores well, everyone starts texting each other: ‘Oh, congratulations on the good viewing figures!’ And if it doesn’t score, you usually don’t hear anything, in my experience, so yes… It must have been a very quiet morning for Linda.”
disaster year
Voice-over Jeroen Look in de Vegte put it all just as well: “The disaster year for Linda de Mol does not end.”
Tina: “I actually didn’t believe my eyes when I saw it. I went to see the top 25 ratings and I kept scrolling down and down and I couldn’t see it. Then I looked at the channel itself and then I saw 329 thousand viewers. Well, I think it’s incredible. Really bizarrely low.”
TV graveyard
Jeroen thinks that Five Live can no longer be saved. “This doesn’t seem to be getting any better. (…) All those negative reactions don’t do Five Live any good either. This will be a one-way ticket to the TV graveyard.”
Tina: “A drama series is very expensive to make, so no: there will not be a second season, I suspect.”
Aran Bade then in the studio: “It’s a ratings nightmare. If you are not in the top 25, all alarm bells will go off in Hilversum. 329 thousand is just a halving. It is also not a good program, because otherwise that line will go up and that will not happen.”
Linda and her manager refuse to respond, he says. Stupid, he thinks. “It’s best to send an app.”
‘Very eager’
Televizier journalist Jef Willemsen is surprised about this settlement with Linda. “Would the flopping viewing figures of the dramatic Five Live also be the opening of RTL Boulevard if it were an RTL series? ? Asking the question is kind of answering it,” he tweeted.
He continues: “Of course the news is that a ratings queen like Linda stumbles, but the (eager) way in which this is delivered is striking.”
