For a long time FC Volendam was allowed to hope for a point at home against sc Heerenveen. Still, the Palingboeren went in empty-handed, because just before time the Frisian team scored twice. And so the Volendammers lost 1-3.
From the first whistle, FC Volendam started strongly against sc Heerenveen. For example, Benaissa Benamar brushed the ball from a great distance on the crossbar in the opening phase. Ibrahim el Kadiri and Xavier Mbuyamba were also close to a goal. In the end Robert Muhren did score after about twenty minutes of play, but the striker turned out to be just offside after a long VAR deliberation. Then the Frisian team took the lead shortly afterwards. The highly efficient Sydney van Hooijdonk showed how to bomb a goal, 0-1.
equalizer
In the second part of the first half, Volendam straightened out and Wim Jonk’s team was level again. Again Robert Muhren was the final station. From a free kick by Carel Eiting, the attacker scored his third goal of the season and put his team on the same level.

severe weather
FC Volendam started the second half with the same eleven players. Where the level of play dropped considerably for both teams. The visitors were a bit stronger, but that didn’t really lead to great chances. After that, the rain fell in torrents from the sky and there were also occasional thunderstorms. On which referee Edwin de Graaf decided to temporarily suspend the match.
Final phase
The short break did not ensure that FC Volendam started to play better. On the contrary, because sc Heerenveen struck twice in the final phase. Mathias Köhlert first shot the ball in after a nice dribble and shortly afterwards Amin Sar decided the game.
Due to the loss, FC Volendam remains the number eighteen in the Eredivisie. The North Holland derby against AZ is scheduled for next weekend in Alkmaar.
