Bridget Maasland refuses Paul de Leeuw: ‘This is very unsympathetic’

Paul de Leeuw gets a slap in the face from Bridget Maasland. The presenter of RTL Boulevard refuses to participate in the revival of Ranking the Stars. “It’s unsympathetic TV.”

After a completely unsuccessful season with Eddy Zoëy at the helm, Ranking the Stars is back in the trusted hands of Paul de Leeuw. That also means that the Dutch celebrity show is moving back to public broadcasting, since Paul is now working for BNNVARA again and no longer for RTL.

unsympathetic TV

Paul’s editors have already sent out quite a few invitations. Bridget Maasland has also been approached if she wants to participate in the program. She would be a nice catch as there are a lot of jokes to make about her.

Bridget has, however, thanks for the honour, she says in her own RTL Boulevard. “I know from reliable sources that Arno and I have already been asked for this program, but I said no, because I find it a rather unsympathetic program at this time.”

‘Is this still possible?’

Afzeik television still does not work in 2022, Bridget believes. “I don’t like catching flies. I want to sing along with karaoke and sing out of tune, all the trimmings.”

The question is whether Paul can find enough celebrities to work with, says Bridget. “Maybe if they can’t get enough people then maybe it wouldn’t go through, but I think everything is in the starting blocks.”

Arno does

A big downer for Paul, since Bridget is an absolute A-star as the host of one of the country’s most watched daily TV programs.

It seems that Paul will have to settle for B and C trimmings. Arno Kantelberg, the vanity of Boulevard, has already said yes. Bridget: “Well, then they can just continue now.”
