Take, swallow, away. That is often the rate at which homes in Zoetermeer are sold. As a result, many home seekers are fishing behind the net. To combat the housing shortage, new-build homes are being built throughout the Netherlands. This is also the case in Zoetermeer.

In 2021, almost 69,000 new-build homes will be completed across the country. That is slightly less than in 2020 and 2019, but a lot more than in the years before. This increased the total number of homes to approximately 8 million. The collection of all owner-occupied and rental homes in the Netherlands is also known as the housing stock.
New-build homes in Zoetermeer
In Zoetermeer, 126 new-build homes were completed in 2021. This is a growth of 0.2 percent. In Pijnacker-Nootdorp, for example, 403 homes were built. That is a growth of 1.8 percent. Zoeterwoude is one of the frontrunners: with 191 new-build homes in 2021, a growth of 5.1 percent has been achieved. One of the fastest climbers in the Netherlands.
New-build homes in Zoetermeer are still mainly built in the Oosterheem district. But we are also seeing more and more small-scale new construction projects. Think of the Zegschijneweg, Den Hoorn, the Nieuwe Dorp and apartments in Rokkeveen. These example projects will all be completed in 2022, so they will only count next year.
