PSV can again call on Luuk de Jong, Noni Madueke and Mauro Junior during the squat against Arsenal in the Europa League on Thursday evening. The trio has been missing in recent weeks due to injuries, but will return to the match selection for the game in London.
Everything indicated this week that the trio would be fit in time for the game against the Premier League leaders. Normally, De Jong, Mauro and Madueke will start on the reserve bench on Thursday evening, especially because they have hardly any match rhythm after weeks of injuries. Despite this, the players have been found fit enough to be on the selection.
The return of Luuk de Jong in particular is a major boost for coach Ruud van Nistelrooij, who has not had access to a real center striker in recent weeks. In the last duels he tried variants with, among others, Xavi Simons and Guus Til in the striker. The latter was accurate twice against FC Utrecht on Sunday. Ismail Saibari has also been in the attack once this season. He is currently still struggling with an injury.
Physical complaints
The return of Madueke, De Jong and Mauro does not mean that the Eindhoven infirmary has completely emptied. In addition to Saibari, Marco van Ginkel, Olivier Boscagli and Yorbe Vertessen are also sidelined with physical complaints.
PSV was actually supposed to visit Arsenal last month, but that game was moved at the time due to the death of the British Queen Elizabeth II. PSV are currently second in the Europa League, with two points less than Arsenal. The Gunners are still flawless in Europe. The game starts tomorrow at 7:00 PM.
