The search for the missing Hebe (10) and Sanne (26) continues at the Hooiweg in Waspik. Traces have been found in the water, but so far a search of the waterfront has yielded nothing, the police reported to Omroep Brabant. The mayor of Waalwijk, which Waspik falls under, Sacha Ausems, also came to the search and sympathizes intensely with family and those involved.

“I came here because there were signals that there might be a car in the water,” Ausems begins. “But it has not been found.”

“I’m also a mother, this is the worst thing that could happen to you.”

She is visibly affected by the disappearance. “All municipalities in the area agree with this, but that actually applies to the whole of the Netherlands,” says an upset mayor. “I am also a mother, this is the worst thing that can happen to you. I’ve been working on this missing person all day. It is terrible for family and those involved if something like this happens to you, when you receive such a message. That uncertainty, that powerlessness that you have to feel, it’s terrible.”

Now that nothing has been found in the water, the mayor has gone again. She awaits further reports from the police at home. “As mayor, I let the emergency services do their job as well as possible. That is the most important thing for now.”

The police say that nothing has been found yet and that a sonar boat is continuing to search the water. The oil traces in the water are currently one of the few puzzle pieces in this missing case. Earlier it became clear that the Kia Picanto in which Hebe and Sanne would be sitting was last seen on the A59 at Waspik on Monday afternoon around half past three.
