St. Pauli extended with Captain Irvine

Second division soccer club FC St. Pauli extended the contract with captain Jackson Irvine (29) prematurely shortly before the derby against Hamburger SV (Friday, 6:30 p.m. / Sky).

The Kiezkicker did not specify the term, the previous contract had a term until 2024.

The Australian moved to Hamburg from Scottish club Hibernian FC in Edinburgh last year.

“The fact that Jackson is already leading the team as captain after just one season underlines his importance for us,” said coach Timo Schultz: “With his will to win, he stands for the classic St. Pauli virtues and represents the club on and off the pitch th place in an excellent way. It’s a great signal to have him in our squad for the years to come.”
