Since the Uefa had but again an understanding. The European Football Association has taken a step back in a dispute with a pizzeria – and decided against a lawsuit.
This (right) shot by Uefa backfired. The European Football Association gave in to the lightning dispute over a crisp pizza name and gave the German manufacturer the go for its frozen dough plates. Apparently, the brand names Champions League (soccer premier class) and “Mushrooms League” (pizza) don’t bite after all – and the Gießen company “Pizza Cloud” does not have to fear a long-term legal dispute with the umbrella organization from Nyon. “Overzealous” brand manager
“The Uefa Champions League can live happily next to this delicious-sounding pizza,” assured the European Football Union in a short, casual statement on Tuesday. In this (probably unique) process, an “overzealous” local brand manager seems to have acted a little too “hasty”.
As became known on Monday, the Continental Association had previously asked the German manufacturer of frozen pizzas to withdraw the trademark application. The name is very similar to the Champions League, with which Uefa earns several hundred million euros every year. The company “Pizza Cloud” had published a corresponding letter from a lawyer on Instagram. Less than 24 hours later, the thing is gone.
