FIFA pays 200 million euros for World Cup releases

The world football association FIFA wants to pay clubs worldwide 203 million euros for the World Cup secondment of their professionals.

FIFA announced this budget plan on Tuesday at the start of the application process. Almost 10,000 euros will be paid out for every day that a player spends with his national team during the final round in Qatar (November 20th to December 18th) and the official preparation phase.

Around the last finals in Russia 2018, the same total was distributed to 416 clubs from 63 countries. The compensation will be paid to all clubs where the respective professionals have played in the last two years before the World Cup.

The cash flows are set out in a cooperation agreement between FIFA and the European Club Association ECA. The regulation was introduced before the 2010 World Cup and still applies to the forthcoming finals.
