The International Ski Federation FIS has decided on a new format for the upcoming Ski Jumping World Cup season.
In the “Super Team” two athletes from each nation form a team. The duo competition, which is carried out in three rounds, is primarily intended to accommodate smaller nations that cannot field a four-person team.
First competitions in February
The new format, which was already tested during the Summer Grand Prix in Rasnov, will take place in the men on February 11 in Lake Placid and on February 19 in Rasnov. The women will also hold a “super team” competition for the first time in January in Zao, Japan.
The FIS also approved the first ski flying in history for women. On March 19, the top 15 jumpers in the Raw Air series, who must be at least 18 years old, will start at Monsterbakken in Vikersund, Norway. The competition does not count towards the World Cup.
There is also a change for the weekend in Titisee-Neustadt, where an additional mixed team competition will be held on December 10th. The individual competitions will therefore take place on December 9th and 11th.
