According to the news in Eurohoops, Jan Vesely, who left after 8 seasons in Fenerbahçe Beko and transferred to Barcelona, made statements about his Turkey career and the details of his transfer to Barcelona.
‘IT WAS HARD TO DECIDE’
Explaining that he made the decision to leave Fenerbahce difficult, Vesely said, “It was definitely one of the hardest decisions I’ve made. I wanted to get out of my comfort zone, try something new and play with a new energy. I was very happy when I was in Fenerbahce and Istanbul, it was my second home. I couldn’t wait to go home to Istanbul every summer, but I wanted to try something new for my career and fight for more EuroLeague trophies.”
“IN MY FIRST TWO YEAR THE FANS DID NOT KNOW BASKETBALL”
Talking about his first two years of transfer to Fenerbahçe Beko, Jan Vesely said, “I will remember all the matches, how we played, the atmosphere created by the fans and the whole process where I learned basketball. In the first two years, the fans weren’t that interested in basketball. The situation is different in Serbia and Greece because they are both basketball countries. They know when to boo the opponent, how to put pressure on the referees.
In my first two years, the fans learned and understood basketball and I experienced this process. The atmosphere after that was incredible. They knew everything, it was great to watch them learn basketball. I will definitely remember that.”
