First portrait of British royal couple with Prince and Princess of Wales
Buckingham Palace has released the first official portrait of King Charles, his wife Queen Consort Camilla, his son William and his wife Catherine, the new Prince and Princess of Wales. The photo was taken last month on the eve of Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.
King Charles then held a reception at the palace for presidents, prime ministers, monarchs and other dignitaries on the occasion of his mother’s death. It was the first major event hosted by the new monarch and one of the largest gatherings of world leaders and global political figures the palace has ever hosted.
In the portrait, the four, all dressed in black, stand side by side. According to British media, the photo highlights the support the Prince and Princess of Wales have shown to the King and Queen Consort in the weeks following Queen Elizabeth’s death.
