West Flemings give themselves 7.3 out of 10 for general life satisfaction

Overall life satisfaction was on average lowest in the age group up to 34 years (7.0) and highest in the over-65s (7.5). The highly skilled (7.4) are slightly more satisfied than the low- and medium-skilled (7.1 each). According to household type, people who live with their parents (6.5) and people living alone (6.6) have a lower satisfaction. The highest average satisfaction is for people who live with a partner without or with children (7.5 and 7.4, respectively).

West Flanders in second place

In the spring of 2022, general life satisfaction was highest among residents of Flemish Brabant (7.4). This is followed by West Flanders (7.3), Antwerp (7.2), Limburg (7.1) and East Flanders (7.0). The difference according to degree of urbanization (large city, countryside or smaller cities) is not significant, according to Flanders Statistics.
