Union Berlin quickly found a replacement for Max Kruse. Paderborn’s Sven Michel has signed a contract with the Köpenickers, as Union announced on Monday.
“Sven is a real asset with his goal threat and creativity, so we’ve had our eye on him for a long time,” said Oliver Ruhnert, Union’s managing director for professional football. Kruse, who had moved to the Alte Försterei in summer 2020, announced his departure on Sunday.
Union did not provide any information about the transfer terms and duration of the contract. The period up to the summer of 2024 is mentioned on the website of the second division club.
The 31-year-old Michel has played for East Westphalia for the past five and a half years. This season, the attacker contributed 14 goals and seven assists in 19 league games for the table ninth.
