Dan-Axel Zagadou has been without a new club since his contract with German runners-up Borussia Dortmund. A move to AS Roma for star coach AS Roma recently failed. Now there could soon be a solution for the contractless centre-back.
According to a report by the French broadcaster “RMC“Two well-known clubs from top European leagues are currently competing for the 23-year-old, who last played for BVB in May of this year and has been without a new club since then.
According to information from the broadcaster, both Olympique Lyon from the French Ligue 1 and West Ham United from the English Premier League are said to be interested in Zagadou.
According to the media report, the London club is currently in pole position. The Hammers are said to have offered the defensive giants a four-year deal that should convince Zagadou to move to the island.
West Ham United got off to a bad start in the new Premier League season and only won one of their first six matches. The club bosses had recently emphasized that they were still looking for possible reinforcements.
Zagadou once made his debut under Peter Bosz at BVB
The background is that players without a contract can still be signed after the transfer window has closed.
Olympique Lyon are said to be still in contention for the former France U21 international. Head coach Peter Bosz knows Zagadou from their days together at Borussia Dortmund.
When the Dutchman was employed as a coach at BVB in the first half of the 2017/2018 season, he helped the then 18-year-old make his Bundesliga debut. Overall, Zagadou played 67 league games for Westphalia, in which he contributed four goals.
